Turning Waste into Value | Building Sustainable Futures
Rhino’s Silica Plastic Block (SPB) technology addresses one of the foundry industry’s toughest challenges—safe disposal of used sand and dust—by blending 30–50% foundry waste with 50–70% low-grade plastic to create strong, durable building products like pavers, blocks, and pots.
Developed through in-house R&D since 2017 and validated in collaboration with industry, SPB has proven its ability to repurpose waste at scale—for every 1 kg of plastic, up to 3 kg of used sand can be recycled.
Silica Plastic Block - SPB
SPB creates measurable impact across multiple UN Sustainable Development Goals:
-
SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption & Production: Extends lifecycle of waste, minimizes raw material extraction.
-
SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure: Provides an innovative alternative to conventional bricks with superior strength.
-
SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities & Communities: Enables eco-friendly construction materials for both rural and urban use.
-
SDG 13 – Climate Action: Cuts emissions by diverting plastic from burning and sand from mining.
-
SDG 8 – Decent Work & Economic Growth: Generates inclusive livelihoods through decentralized production.
-
Rhino’s Silica Plastic Block (SPB) technology transforms what many see as waste into a vehicle for social and economic upliftment. Instead of just addressing dust or sand disposal, SPB plugs into a larger narrative: local jobs, community resilience, inclusive development, and environmental justice.
